World T20: Wright's unbeaten 99 takes England to 196/5

Colombo: Afghanistan did on Friday, what they had done from their previous clash against India. Versus England, they opted to bowl, struck early, shuddered on the field and eventually allowed Luke Wright (99*) to wallop his side to 196/5.
Shahpoor Zadran steamed in at the start and was rewarded with the wicket of Criag Kieswetter (0) in the first over itself. Partnered by Dawlat Zadran, he bowled a tight line to have English batsmen treading with caution.
Luke Wright had come as Kieswetter's replacement and though he took a bit of time to get his eyes in, eventually began to snatch the momentum away from the Afghans.

Partnered by Alex Hales, Wright constructed a 68-run stand for the third wicket. Despite the eventual wicket of Hales (31 off 27), Wright managed to build on his half-century and deny the opposition.
Afghanistan did repeat their shoddy effort on the field which had cost them in the opening match. Several boundaries were more because the ball slipped through the hands rather than because of gaps being found. Wright in fact, was dropped on 76 and allowed to take his team to the eventual target, helped also by a couple of front-foot no-balls. Wright even managed to plunder 32 runs off the 19th over!
